Five Cities Financial Focus: No more seller credit for down payment
As of Oct. 1, the Department of Housing and Urban Development no longer allows down payment seller credits for home buyers on Federal Housing Administration insured mortgages. These “gifts” were a popular selling tool for builders and home sellers alike, but have been nixed by HUD.

Casino employers, union offer down-payment help
LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Culinary Union and casino employers are trying to help unionized casino workers buy homes. A new partnership with the union, the casinos and the state will provide up to $2 million in down-payment loans for first-time buyers.
